How-To: Promote Your Listing on Our Sites

After launching our first five websites in 2012, which includes Sitter.comPetSitter.comHousekeeper.comElderCare.com and HouseSitter.com, our community has grown into a large network of service providers; everything from babysitters to tutors and roofers.

With a presence in every major city in the US and Canada, and hundreds of new listings each day, it makes competition on our websites a little more fierce. To ensure you get the most out of your subscription, here are some helpful tips to get your listing noticed.

  1. Have a Descriptive, Updated Title, and Listing
    It's no secret that users want high-quality, accurate listings. Complete each section of your listing and make sure your headline is catchy and appropriate. Uploading a high quality and relevant photo will also help you stand out.

  2. Talk About it in Real Life
    Since the initial connection happens online, we often forget how powerful face-to-face communication can be. When you’re speaking to friends and family, share tidbits of your experiences connecting on our site. In many cases, the individual may not be familiar with us and will be eager to learn more.

  3. Use Social Media
    Grab your listing's URL from the address bar and share your listing across your social channels. Don't be shy about asking your friends to help!

  4. Respond Quickly
    Because people are actively looking to connect, they’re also expecting a timely response (typically within 24 hours). If your response is delayed, there’s a good chance they’ll continue their search elsewhere. In instances where you can’t respond immediately with a detailed message, sending a short message indicating that you’ve received their message and will respond later will go a long way in securing the connection.
